Annales Zoologici Fennici is an established international, peer-reviewed journal published by the Finnish Zoological and Botanical Publishing Board. We publish original research on animal ecology and evolution, as well as on the taxonomy and systematics of terrestrial arthropods. In-depth reviews and articles on research methodology are also welcome.

The journal was founded by Societas Biologica Fennica Vanamo in 1964, replacing its predecessor which had been published since 1923. Between 1978 and 1994 it was published by the Finnish Zoological Publishing Board, and since 1994 by the Finnish Zoological and Botanical Publishing Board.

The journal is sponsored by the Finnish Ministry of Education and Culture.
